MJT Team Canada set for Australia’s Jack Newton International Junior Classic

 

September 8, 2023 - (Vancouver, BC) - The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour is pleased to announce the players who qualified to represent Canada in Australia’s upcoming Jack Newton International Junior Classic, a tournament billed as the ‘largest junior golf event in the Southern Hemisphere,’ with competitors from several countries taking part.

The eight players selected to compete are Chase Burgess from Petitcodiac, NB, Brady Durkin from Sylvan Lake, AB, Ethan Frost from Barrie, ON, Will Heavisides from Calgary, AB, Robert (Cooper) Joyce  from Etobicoke, ON, Oakley Mayner from Kelowna, BC, Russell Quinn from St. Albert, AB and Spencer Shropshire from Ramara, ON.

This will be the 12th appearance for MJT Team Canada in the event down under, which runs from September 26 to 29, 2023, at Cyprus Lakes Golf and Country Club in New South Wales. The team will be accompanied by MJT Tournament Director, Luke Rundell, and MJT Member Services Manager, Rachelle Rundell, both experienced Class ‘A’ CPGA Professionals.

 About the MJT: The non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour is Canada’s number one-played Junior Golf Tour as well as the only national junior tour run exclusively by PGA of Canada Professionals and the ‘Road to College Golf’ in Canada. The organization is supported by valued Premier, Tournament and Product Partners. The MJT hosts 100 events across Canada, including free Ford Go Golf Junior Clinics, the MJT Mini Tour for 12U and multi-day events for competitive players aged 11-19 which also offer qualifiers for international tournaments. MJT alumni include many Professional Tour players and PGA of Canada Professionals, as well as Canadian Amateur, National and Provincial Junior Champions.
