Herrendorf Family Foundation commits $100,000 to Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour

Vancouver, BC – (August 11, 2023) – The Herrendorf Family Foundation (HFF), which advocates for education, empowerment and generational resilience, is committing $100,000 towards developing champions in golf and in life on Canada’s number-one played Junior Golf Tour, the non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT).

This generous donation will be provided in four increments of $25,000 over a four-year period (2023-2026) and allocated in the form of scholarships and financial assistance for athletes in need.  HFF continues their support of the MJT Scholarship Program out of this funding, with $5,000 in five HFF Scholarships of $1,000 each to be awarded in 2023 to MJT members who show exemplary athletic, educational and personal achievements. The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour has provided financial assistance with post-secondary endeavours to an extensive alumni over the past 25 years and the Herrendorf Family Foundation’s continuing contributions reinforces both the HFF and MJT’s support of education and empowerment of young athletes.

In addition, $10,000 is being allocated in 2023 to help cover the expenses of participation for five deserving athletes in the season-ending finale, the MJT National Championship presented by TaylorMade and adidas Golf at The Wigwam Golf Resort in Litchfield (Phoenix), AZ, on November 9-12, 2023. Juniors who have qualified and are in financial need will be invited to submit a request for funding.

Another $10,000 has been allocated into five HFF Playing Scholarships, in an innovative move to help secure the competitive golf tenure on the MJT for these five athletes, ensuring they have a paid place to compete without the barriers of membership and entry fee costs. This support is intended to follow these “HFF Playing Scholars” throughout their MJT journey and continue with support of their post-secondary endeavours with scholarship funds.

The Herrendorf Family Foundation invests in strategic partnerships with global change leaders and launched their wrap-around umbrella We Got You,” in 2021, which includes scholarships, emergency grants, support for mothers, contributing partnerships and community engagement.

Application forms for the MJT’s HFF Playing Scholarships and MJT National Championship participation funding will be available shortly. The MJT’s HFF Scholarship application forms are now available and can be found on the MJT website. More information on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour is on the Tour’s website at www.maplejt.com.
