Manitoba’s growing MJT Mini Tour for 12U battled wild wind at Winkler stop

A great turnout of over 20 beginner golfers came out to play in the Maple Leaf Junior Tour’s Mini Tour stop at Winkler Centennial Golf Course in Winkler, MB, on June 1.  The event saw many new players who were being introduced to competitive golf for the first time, signifying the growth of the game in Manitoba. Despite the windy conditions that tested the 12U field, competitors demonstrated resilience and talent.

Players competed in five divisions: Boys 8U, Boys 9-10, Boys 11-12, Girls 9-10 and Girls 11-12, with plenty of tee gifts and prizes on hand for all, encouraging and rewarding the completion of 18 holes in tough conditions. Three players also qualified for the MJT Mini Tour National Championship in British Columbia this August, joining those who are already exempt due to their performances at prior events.

Top finisher scores are highlighted below.  The next and final Mini Tour stop in Manitoba is July 14 at Kildonan Park Golf Course in Winnipeg. To register or for more information on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour, please visit the website at www.maplejt.com.
