80 young golf enthusiasts take part in MJT’s Ford Clinic and Mini Tour stop at Blue Devil

 
A great turnout of 80 young golf enthusiasts came out to participate in two Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour events at Blue Devil Golf Club in Calgary, Alberta, on May 25, signifying the popularity of the lifelong game of golf. Eager youth ages five to 12 received a free introduction to golf in the Woodridge Ford Lincoln Go Golf! Junior Clinic, while tournament-ready youngsters teed it up in the competitive 18-hole MJT Mini Tour event for 12 and under.
 
Results of this MJT Mini Tour Spring Series at Blue Devil, where players in six divisions faced challenging weather conditions, are highlighted below. Under the threat of spring thunderstorms, the juniors rose to the occasion, delivering some outstanding scores throughout the day.

With an impressive four-under-par, Sedona Weitz, 11, of Foothills M.D., won the MJT Girls 11-12 division in style. Weitz expressed her excitement, stating, "It feels amazing because I work hard." She further highlighted her achievements, adding, "My putting and chipping were amazing."

Ain Lee, 10, of Sylvan Lake, AB, reflected on her winning performance in the MJT Girls 9-10 division, noting, "I could have done better on many holes. Next time I hope to be better." Despite this, she said, "Today I thought that my putting was good. My putting saved a lot of holes."

Ava Deschamps, 7, of Calgary, came out to compete with the right attitude in the MJT Girls 8U division, saying ‘I was with a great group,’ emphasizing the camaraderie and positive atmosphere of the event.

Jacob Topshee, 8, of Rocky View County, AB, celebrated his strong MJT Boys 8U victory, stating, "It feels good to win." Looking back, he added, "I was hitting the ball well today."

In the MJT Boys 9-10 division, Caleb Topshee, 10, of Rocky View County, added to his brother’s prize collections from the tournament by winning as well.  "I’m happy for the win,” Topshee said. “The conditions were tough today." He attributed his success to strong tee shots and effective putting.

Judah Hornstein, 11, of Calgary, broke through in the tightest race of the tournament, winning the MJT Boys 11-12 title by one stroke. He shared his feelings of accomplishment, stating he is ‘happy and proud.’ He credited his success to ‘consistency in the mental side of the game,’ showcasing the importance of mental fortitude in his performance.

About the MJT: The non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour is Canada’s #1 Junior Golf Tour as well as the only national junior tour run exclusively by PGA of Canada Professionals and the ‘Road to College Golf’ in Canada.
