Porter qualifies for Arizona
Saskatoon, SK - (July 14, 2010) – An extremely windy, wet and cold day greeted players in the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s (MJT) CPGA of Saskatchewan Junior Championship at the Willows Golf Club in Saskatoon on July 13th, weather which was described by MJT Tournament Director and CPGA Professional, Jeff Chambers, as “nothing short of miserable. To see our first-round leaders Dallas Mengel and Mike Boymook shoot one-under-par in those conditions was nothing short of amazing. The golf course is, however, in perfect shape as the Willows is gearing up for the Amateur next week so the rough is tough and the greens are fast. A real treat to play with the exception of the weather.”
Slightly better weather followed on July 14th, and some good scores were recorded by the competitive young golfers from BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba during the final round of the last MJT stop here this season, who were vying for division titles plus a qualifying spot in the CAN-USA Team Matches at Ritz-Carlton at Dove Mountain Golf Club in Marana, Arizona, December 10-12, 2010. The MJT contingent to Arizona is sponsored by Travel Underwriters, the Official International Events Partner.
